Scenario: Syncing Business Glossary

DI-DM bridge connector syncs the glossary from erwin Data Modeler (erwin DM) to DI and harvests it back to the erwin Mart Portal. Basically, glossaries in erwin DM model are pushed to DI under business glossary manager via DI-DM Connect and reflected under Enterprise Glossary in erwin Mart Portal.

Prerequisites

You should have the connector file, which is DI_DM_Mart_Bridge_Connector, to sync the business glossaries. To procure this connector file, you may reach out to us through various channels—such as the Sales team, Support team, Professional Services, the PM team etc.

Downloading and Importing Connector

  1. Download the connector file named DI_DM_Mart_Bridge_Connector.acp.
  2. Log in to DI.
  3. Go to Miscellaneous and click Automation Framework.
  4. In the Connectors tab, click Import Connector to import the connector file. This opens Import Code Automation Connector.
  5. Click Choose file. Then select the downloaded connector file and click Open.
  6. On the Import Code Automation Connector page, click Save. The success message appears for the imported file and the connector gets added.
  7. Refresh the page after the file is successfully imported. The newly added connector is displayed.
  8. Expand Data Integration to view the added connector.
  9. Select the connector and click Options. This opens Connector Menu page.
  10. In the Dialogs tab, select Options. This opens Connector Options Form.

Configuring DM-DI Mart Bridge

  6. Go back to DI.
  7. In the Connector Options Form, select the Bearer Token option under DefaultTab. This opens Bearer Token properties tab in the right pane.
  8. Deselect the Mask Field checkbox to make the existing token visible.
  9. In the left pane, select the complete token from the Bearer Token field and paste the copied access token there.
  10. In the Mart End Point field, ensure that the port number is correct in the URL. It should be same as mentioned in the erwin Mart Portal URL.

Ensure that Mart End point is correct ( Example: port number, http/https ).

  11. Click Save button to save all the changes and close the form.

Harvesting Glossary to erwin Mart Portal

  1. In the Automation Framework page, double-click the connector. This opens the Connector file.
  2. Click Run. This opens the BGExport page.
  3. Select Catalog Level from the BusinessGlossaryReportExportOption options and keep the Mode of Run as Manual to get a glossary.
  4. You should avoid the Migrate all option as erwin Mart Portal only supports Business Terms. This must be followed if the Catalog contains Assets other than Business terms. For Example Business Policies, Business Rules etc.

  5. Select Asset type and Asset Catalog Name based on your requirements. In this case, we selected Asset Type as Business Terms and Asset Catalog Name as Demo15.1 DM-DI_1.
  6. Ensure that DI has a catalog available to import in erwin Mart Portal.

  7. Click Ok.
  8. Go back to erwin Mart Portal and open the Enterprise Glossary.
  9. In the left pane, expand Glossary View. This displays the folder with the imported glossary.
